How to Use Sonar EQ Profiles on PlayStation and Xbox

You've asked, we've listened. A GG update brings Sonar preset functionality with Arctis Nova Pro Wireless/Wired on console, enabling you to use various game-specific audio settings on PlayStation or Xbox.

Sonar is your go-to software for the best audio settings in various games. While we have a long list of game-specific profiles that highlight the audio you really want to hear (be it footsteps, items opponents are using, or wonderful ambiance for greater enjoyment), those were not possible to use on PlayStation and Xbox. Until now.

It's been a highly requested feature to have these work on console, and now, owners of the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless gaming headset and Arctis Nova Pro can activate special EQ profiles for specific games listed below.

Your GameDAC becomes even more powerful — in addition to switching EQ presets, sidetone, noise cancellation settings that you can make on the fly, without having to enter any apps, or switching back to PC, now you can also select the right preset for the right game.

We particularly want to point out the availability of a new preset for Baldur's Gate 3, which recently launched on the PlayStation 5. Now, you're able to enhance the sounds of Faerun with our special preset that highlights the cinematic soundtrack of the game and emphasizes precious dialogue clarity.

Here is a full list of currently available EQ presets from Sonar at the time of publishing:

  • Flat
  • Bass Boost
  • Focus
  • Smiley
  • Apex Legends
  • Baldur's Gate 3
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (COD Modern Warfare II)
  • COD Warzone 2
  • Destiny 2
  • Diablo IV
  • Fortnite
  • FPS footsteps
  • GTA V

How to enable the presets on console

Gaming wireless headset

Use your GameDAC Gen 2/Wireless Base Station to select the profiles, after making sure you updated to the latest firmware using SteelSeries GG.

You can control the options with either the dials or with the headset itself. When the headset is active, you can long press the volume wheel on the headset to maneuver the options on the Base Station (press it to select, longpress it to go back, or press the Power button to go back).

Go to Audio Options > Equalizer > Equalizer: Custom or Preset, scroll left or right to choose and click to select (Custom is for making your own, Preset is the list) > then scroll to the desired EQ profile if you entered Preset.

It will apply instantly to your audio. Just back out of the menu, there is no need to “confirm.”

Now you can enjoy finely tuned audio specific to the game you're playing on console with the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless or Wired.
